How to Compare COREtec Pro Samples Before You Buy
Two vinyl samples can look similar in a photo and feel different when you compare them in person. A useful shopping conversation goes beyond light, medium or dark brown.
Start with the exact product name
Write down the brand, collection and color from each sample label. COREtec's collection naming has changed over time, so an older Pro Plus label and a current Pro Classics listing may require a careful match. Keep a photo of the label with your room photos rather than relying on memory.
For Biscayne Oak, our catalog uses Pro Plus 7, while the current manufacturer reference is Pro Classics VV017_01008. Confirm that reference when requesting a quote or additional material.
Separate wear-layer thickness from plank thickness
Wear-layer measurements describe the transparent protective layer near the surface. Overall thickness describes the entire plank. A larger number in one field does not answer every question about installation, sound or comfort. Compare the complete specifications and the intended use of your room.
View a layout, not one corner
Lay several real planks side by side and look for changes in tone, grain and repeating details. Move back to the distance from which you normally see the floor. Bring a paint or cabinet sample so the comparison reflects the rest of the room.
Discuss the route through the house
Think about where people enter, where shoes and grit collect, where furniture moves and which rooms connect. Also identify direct sun, wet entryways, appliances and any history of moisture. These details help the installation team assess the project instead of assuming every room needs the same approach.
Ask what happens at the edges
Look closely at doorways, stair edges and changes in floor height. Ask which trim and transition pieces match the chosen product and how they will be installed. These details can change both the appearance and the full project cost.
Keep the quote specific
Request the same exact product, rooms and scope from every estimate you compare. Review the allowances for preparation, removal, installation and trim. A material-only square-foot figure cannot describe the complete job.
